Conditioning Class

Fencing is an athletic sport that requires strong balance, high endurance, and explosive use of fast-twitch muscles. However, the stance, footwork, and use of only the dominant hand can result in asymmetrical muscle development. Full-body training can help mitigate this issue. Students will be led through warm-ups, cardio-based HIIT sets, and age-appropriate weight- and resistance-based exercises. Instructors will provide modified exercises and sets to accommodate varying levels of ability, muscle development, and athleticism.

The Saturday Conditioning Class is open to all club members, and is heavily encouraged for all students in the Foil and Sabre Programs, particularly those who compete or are interested in doing so.

Key Information:
  • Sundays, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

  • Group workout led by Coach O'Keefe

  • Availability for Open Fencing & Private lessons (as scheduled) following conditioning class.

  • Club equipment is available, but personal gear is encouraged

Students should wear athletic clothes and gym shoes to each class. Although water bottles are provided at the club, we recommend that students bring their own. Bringing a healthy snack to replenish energy is also encouraged!
